Your first Christmas in Australia? Sydney's free festive events start in late November 2026.
Martin Place Christmas Tree (CBD)
The official lighting ceremony is on Thu 26 Nov. Sound and light shows then run nightly until 5 January.
Glebe Christmas Fair
Sat 28 Nov, 12pm–8pm on Glebe Point Road (between St Johns Road and Great Western Highway).
Martin Place Christmas Markets
Open 29 and 30 November from 11am to 9:15pm, then on selected days until Christmas Eve. Sources list different days, so check the City of Sydney listing before you go.
More free events in December
Choirs in the City: carols daily from 1 to 21 December, 6pm–8pm.
Free local Christmas concerts in Rosebery (29 Nov), Pyrmont (6 Dec) and Alexandria (13 Dec).
