How to Check Your Australian Visa for Free with VEVO
Not sure exactly what your visa allows? VEVO (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) is the Department of Home Affairs' online service for checking visa details and conditions.
What VEVO shows you
Your visa type and grant details
Your visa expiry date
Your visa conditions — for example, work or study limits
Home Affairs also explains that you can send proof of your visa conditions to others — for example employers, landlords or the country you'd like to visit.
How to use it
Go to the official Home Affairs VEVO page.
Choose the option for visa holders.
Enter the details it asks for, such as your passport information and a visa reference number from your grant letter.
Check your conditions and, if you need to, email the result to your employer.
Stay safe
Only use the official .gov.au website. Some third-party sites look official but aren't.
Never share your passport number or visa grant number in public comments or social media.
Working Holiday Makers: two conditions to know
If you're on a 417 or 462 visa, Home Affairs lists two conditions many people check first: 8547 (a maximum of 6 months' work with any one employer, unless you get permission) and 8548 (a maximum of 4 months of study or training). Read more in our guide: Can you study on a Working Holiday visa?
